OLPC believes the Eee will not enter US market

An interesting quote can be found in the Forbes article about the Asus Eee PC 701:

“OLPC is betting that Intel will keep the Eee out of the U.S. market to avoid cannibalizing sales of its higher-priced brand-name customers, such as Dell or HP.”

With the amount of positive publicity the Asus Eee has received already and the rising stock price of Asus as a company, it truly would be unwise not to bring such a great device to the US market. Moreover, because of the size it will not replace desktop or full sized laptop computers. Rather, it probably will attract former PDA users, students, and create a new segment of the market.
