Thoughts on the preorders…
July 11th, 2007 by antI just wanted to post a quick message about preorders being offered on various websites for the Eee PC 701. I am aware of not only several in the United States, but many outside.
I won’t be posting any direct links for preorders until more information is known about the device.
The following are the reasons I will not be preordering yet:
- Asus has kept individuals seeking bulk orders generally in the dark about the final completed product. The result:
- The price has not fully been confirmed- pre-order websites show a disclaimer that price may change
- There are options that are not yet listed in the pre-order such as color, memory, etc.
- There are no indications that production will not be able to support the first wave of consumers seeking devices.
- There are no major technology retailers yet taking pre-orders.
- For foreign countries: Pre-orders could easily be scam operations.
I urge you to use caution with pre-orders- if you must this early- consult various review websites to make sure the retailer is reputable.

Could you post the links in the forum? I only know of allasus.com and I’m not sure I like there deal very much (non-refundable $150). Is allasus reputable?

150 non-refundable on a product that hasnt got a final price yet alone finalized specs…sounds like nothing but headaches to me…i would really just wait til asus gives final details.. if it looks like it will be a big hit off the bat im sure reputable websites will have pre-orders as well. Just wait..i know its hard guys i want one bad too.

Good Lord!
I am curious about this product myself, but surely, I can wait until one knows what it actually costs and does. Pre-ordering is insane at this stage.
