Does that mean we’re all geniuses, because a lot of people agree with us?
I’m happy for Asus, and maybe this means they’ll continue supporting and improving the EeePC.
One thing I have to say is there are a lot of cool devices out there that are “quietly” taking over the world. Meanwhile inferior devices are more popular because of mass marketing. I will give some examples….
The iPhone sold a million units very quickly amid great fanfare but its really not a smartphone. Its a great phone, but does not qualify as a smartphone.
The competing HTC Touch an “iPhone Killer” quietly sold one million units too. It is significantly better than the iPhone but NOBODY has heard of it. Hell, my Samsung i760 is hugely better and sold big but if you ask, no one has heard of it. Marketing folks…
And the Asus Eee, even after all the hoopla most people don’t know it exists yet. I bet sales have already gone to hundreds of thousands and the Asus Eee will quietly take over the world. I am glad I was one of the earliest adopters!
Considering that Amazon’s website says the Eee PC “usually ships within 1 to 4 weeks,” I think it’s remarkable the Eee is #1 on their best seller list.
“Best sellers” is not always the same thing as “top number of units sold”. In many cases its a marketing tactic to draw attention to items. Esp when the vendor makes arrangements with Amazon and the like.
