The default xandros cold boot time is around 10+ secs there about. Pretty fast.

I certainly hope not, as it would indicate that windows will be the default OS for future eeepc’s.

that would be a crying shame and a terrible mistake.

i want an eeepc with a 1024×600 screen, but if the rumours are true that i will only be able to get one with XP because of the wimax nonsense then i may not bother at all.

keep linux on the eeepc.

There is a Splashtop-asus package available in synaptics, installs a customized mozilla based browser for youtube, RSS, weather and some more stuff.

If this splashtop can access images, PDF and basic text files, It could turn the Eee into a much more reasonable ebook reader as well.

If that could boot off a USB stick it would be an amazing addition to an already superb piece of kit. Soooo handy if you just wanted to look something up on the ‘net really quickly

I think Asus could use SplashTop concepts in default Linux installation and decrease boot time even more…

If that is true, I think it is a great feature. Because most time we just surf internet or run mp3 or movie.
