running AES encrypted partitions that will scramble the entire HD if you fail the password challenge more than three times. It also rechallenges everytime there is more than 5 minutes of input inactivity. The more highly sensitive of my files are stenoed on a random block of data that appears to be an encrypted filesystem. My RAM is systematically written over with random bytes when ever it becomes deallocated; as is my HD when a file is deleted.

So my question is, how does a flimsy computer cover offer more protection than this?

I’m a cultural and visual anthropologist who works in East Asia. I’ve blown out a PowerBook travelling across the Gobi desert and I’m hoping my EEE PC with its lack of moving parts will fare better — especially if it had a nice case!

Well, I never win any lotteries so I am better off spending 50$ and buying that case from shop then spending time and writing my story.
Good idea to make such raffle here on eeeuser.com. I’m pretty sure, many people will buy something from this shop. I’m thinking about this case for my Eee as well now
