January 31st, 2008 by ant

It looks like the Eee PC is a hit in Japan! Around 10,000 Eee PC units have already been sold in just the first week of the device being available.

If you didn’t remember, the Japanese have the Eee PC 4G-X model which costs a little more than the typical 4G but includes pre-installed Windows XP, a 4GB SDHC memory card, and a mouse.

It was sold out in at least three stores I checked, and Akihabara looked pretty depleted to. When I asked when they were going to get more in Bic Camera and Yodabashi, they said they had no idea. It’s looking like good times for ASUS here, but it bums me out cause I still want one.

I just wish they’d hurry up and get them into North American stores as soon as possible, I’ve been waiting since they launched for a 8GB. black model but I’ll settle for a 4GB. with the extra 4 SDHC card. Besides I’ve allready picked up a Patriot !6GB.SDHC card for $85 CDN.
