32GB SDHC Cards Coming In April

January 31st, 2008 by ant

8GB and 16GB SDHC cards just not enough space for you? You’re in luck.

Sandisk will be releasing a massive 32GB SDHC card in April, for $349. It will be interesting to see the read speeds of the card as some are fast enough to be able to be quite close to the Eee PC’s internal SSD. As a result, you can use some SDHC cards as your primary Eee PC drive, and even install Windows XP on it.

The idea of a SD card that costs almost as much as the Eee is kind of funny, although running a 32gb SD as the primary drive is pretty cool! Once the price of these bad boys goes down, I bet a lot of Eee users will get them. An $399 Eee + $349 32GB SD still looks like a decent price for an ultraportable 32gb solid state laptop.

SDHC? I’d *much* rather have an SSD for my 4G 7A! Vaulter, please?

I just snatched a 16gb on ebay for about $60, so I imagine 16gb cards will be dropping soon.

I wouldn’t trust those announcements too much. How long did it take for the 16gig cards to be available after the announcement? Pretty long. And for the price to drop it would take even longer. So, I’m guessing we can get these 32gig cards for half the price around early to mid next year yet.
