DigiLegend case for EEE

I’ve uploaded my review of the DigiLegend case for the EEE- it is available at http://eeepcworld.wordpress.com/2008/02 … e-for-eee/

Unlike the other cases which I have reviewed, the Digilegend case is a satchel-style, with a shoulder strap (but no shoulder pad). This makes it absolutely ideal for carrying around; with the weight of the EEE, it would be very easy to sling the case of your shoulder and forget about it. As one might expect, the shoulder strap is adjustable, so you can make it as long or as short as you wish (within reason!); it’s worth noting, though, that you cannot remove the strap completely without modifying the case, as it is sewn firmly in place at one end, although you could tuck it into the bag…

At $17.50, I think that it is an excellent piece of kit!

I like how almost every EEE owner has an external drive which proves that 4GB is too small of a space to store anything significant.

    nice purse

hmm I am getting one.. I have been in the market for basically this.. I don’t have an external drive because I am content with my 4 gig SSD and 8 Gig SDHC. any way I’m kinda sick of carrying my power adapter in my cot pocket….

The problem is that every carrying case made for a laptop of this size is going to look like a purse.

    Decent looking bag, BUT:

    Bag costs 17.50
    Shipping is 12.50

    Uh yeah.

    Not happening.

    A manbag might suit you!

Phillips travel case for a 9″ portable DVD player works for me. Picked it up at Wally world…

    looks like a ******* purse!

There are tons of cases for Portable DVD players. I picked up a nice neoprene case at Target for $10. Only one compartment, but it has an adjustable shoulder strap with shoulder pad, small handles at the top and a zip top. It’s thick enough to house the eee and a zippered bag for peripherals and power supply. I am using it with the Bando leather case and the peripherals bag…it works for me!

My eee PC carry bag is an old gas mask bag. Durable, lightweight, designed to be slung close to the body. oh, and CHEAP. I got mine for USD $ 4.

For a bit of added protection, I keep the eeePC itself sealed in a ziplock bag inside.

I’d love to see a picture of that gas mask case!

I haven’t seen anybody talk about Everest bags in all my scouring of the forum.

I have a 10 year old Everest bag that fits the eeepc perfectly. I bought that one at The Vermont Country Store. I had used it for years but it was retired to my closet and I only recently resurrected it for my computer.

I went to http://www.everestbags.com and found something similar to my original bag. It’s called the Everest Shoulder Hydration Pack.

The pro, for me, is the water bottle holder. The negative, maybe, is that the bag I had before had two large, full length compartments. But, if I can fit my computer and wallet type stuff and keys and still have a secure place for my water..I’m all over it. With the one I now have to make sure that the zippers are zipped just so..to prevent my water bottle from straying from the upright position.

I did not order it through their site. I ordered mine through Amazon.

I’ll post my true test opinion when I get the bag in a week or so. But, I have an inkling that it’s gonna rock.

I found a good bag at Walmart made by Case Logic - meant for portable DVD players. It’s a little snug, but the eeepc fits OK. It has a second zipper compartment for charger, mouse, usb dongles. I guess anything this small is going to look a little purse-like, but so what. I think it cost USD13.00.

My solution on a recent trip to Europe was a to first go to the local Dollar Store. There I found a nursery school kid’s back pack for $1.00 that was perfect for my eeePC. It has a second zippered compartment for extras like my 8 Gb memory stick, power supply (with European plug end for $1.00) and my earphone & mike for Skype. The airport security people did not believe me when I said it was a PC and made me prove it by turning it on.

I just bought a black and gray DVD player case at Radio Shack that is perfect for a Eee PC. The Eee fits in the main compartment, the next compartment holds the manuals, the compartment in front of that holds the power supply and my Simpletec HD and the compartment in front of that holds the Targus Ultra Portable Mouse. Everything fits in perfectly. It is like it was made for the Eee and it’s accessories. The downside is it was $30.00. But to me it is worth every penny because of how perfectly everything fits into it. It also has a shoulder strap and doesn’t look like a man bag. The tag says c icon and the number is PTDVDPLY3-BLK. I put the case that came with the computer in the bottom of the compartment where the Eee goes for extra padding.

Let me also suggest the Case Logic Portable Dual DVD Case (Model #TDNG-9). I just bought it from Target. (Look up “TDNG9″ at target.com)

    Pros:

3 pouches. The middle one fits the EEE PC perfectly, including the neoprene case. Velcro holding strap in the pouch keeps the computer from moving around.

You can put your accessories in one of the other pouches and a paperback book, PDA, external hard drive or DVD drive, cell phone, MP3 player, or other device in the 3rd. I carry my Sony Reader in it.

The outside pouches are exactly the perfect width for the EEE PC power brick. (A bulky mouse might make it bulge a little)

    Only $17.99 at Target.

Most importantly, it doesn’t look like a purse!

    Cons:

The straps are designed to attach it to the inside of a car so people can watch DVD’s on it. Therefore, they are not designed as a shoulder strap. If you have an extra shoulder strap lying around from a duffel bag or something else, you can use it just fine with this case.

It’s a bit bulky. About 6 inches wide. But that’s the price you pay for a case with plenty of room in it.

There are slots to carry DVD’s, but other than that, there are no internal pouches for smaller items such as flash drives, so they’ll be loose inside. You’ll probably want to carry them in some kind of holder in the pouch.

Any A/C cable for another device with a power brick that’s bulkier than the one for the EEE PC will make the pouch bulge.

Not available online, so you have to have a Target store near you to buy it. (I’m sure you can Google it to find some place where you can order online)
