You can achieve this even now. Just install Opera. It has a whole-site zooming feature built-in since a long time ago. Opera is available for both Windows and Linux and it is free (though not open source). However, keep in mind that using the zoom out feature can make the text on some sites very tiny and really difficult to read.

Presumably, though, with Firefox 3 (which we’re told will do whole-site zooming), one of the biggest bugbears of eee users – that we can’t always read the whole width of a website (including, with some frustration, one that I am chiefly responsible for!!) – will be gone without any hacking?
