Article About Eeedora
February 14th, 2008 by antIf you haven’t heard of EeeDora yet, It’s a version of Fedora modified specifically for the Eee PC- created and maintained by Martin Andrews. Red Hat Magazine has a short article about it with a great overview of the distribution.
Eeedora is a great solution especially if you’re used to working with Red Hat, Cent OS, or Fedora instead of using Debian based distributions like Ubuntu. It uses the XFCE window manager for optimal screen use as well, and comes with a solid amount of software.
I’ve been using it the past several days and it’s quite nice! Give it a shot and see if you like it. The article linked to above has the full details on installing it.

note: XFCE is not a window manager, its a desktop environment. window managers are : icewm, flux/openbox, windowmaker etc, DE are gnome and xfce (both gtk) and kde (qt)

Just tried the usb stick install; it works like a gem! Despite a spate of warning messages, eeedora booted up and worked right out of the box!
Pretty fast as well … neat!

Eh, I just got my Eee PC at 4GB, and I’ve been trying to download Fedora, but is there even enough space? Becuase I followed the instructions, and the download file *.iso format takes about 2gig something, and my system files take up most of the space, leaving me about 1019MB left. Help! I really want Fedora.
