I live in Denmark and I got mine from Taiwan too. It got stuck in customs for two weeks and when they finally processed it I had to pay a hefty tax, but it's worth it. The keyboard doesn't bother me in the slightest - in fact, I have a US keyboard hooked up to my desktop too (I grew up abroad and I'm not at all used to the Danish keyboard layout, lol).

Hey...no big problem.
I bouht my wonderful eee from UK and am using it with eeexubuntu in danish language - the special characters i my language may not be represented on the keyboard, but they are nevertheless there and it only represents a minor nuisance.

What is even more annoying is that I saw a reference to a future pricing on the eee and it just would not make sense to buy it domestic, I tell you. Ebay or internet would land you well beneath the asking price, and that would include P&P.

Why would I pay a surcharge for the Nordic countries when I can get it off the internet just as easily as going into a store.

That, if something, sucks big time!

I am thinking about buying the Asus EEE here in Iceland. I can just get it here in a local store so it's easy to get. They offered me stickers for the keyboard for the Icelandic letters.
I hope everyone else here in the North will get lucky soon.

Aargh! This is simply intolerable. We've been waiting for this thing for several months already and now it is going to be delayed AGAIN - or even cancelled!?

As far as it goes to translating the OS - why bother? Every potential Nordic user knows enough English to use an English language UI. It is only the keyboard that's kept me waiting, and the potential larger screen versions...

i take it the black market for the EEE PC just blew up in that area. as an owner of an eee pc its an amazing laptop. there was a an article on www.news.com how Sony is afraid of the eee pc because the eeepc is going to start forcing other name brands to make small laptops for a low price competition is always good it force's other to drop prices and make something better then the other company. i think asus has hit the mark dead center they are making products that was always in the 2000 dollar range know for 3-500 dollars. bye bye sony.

Its more likely that they do not want to make a limited number of special keyboards for a market thats so small and translate Xandros into a language thats not as big as German or French? Although one wonders why they then made an Icelandic keyboard?

""How can they logically give up on a release for the most developed countries in the world?""

I'll bet some nitwit figured there must be Windows on the nordic Eee because that is what people know. and we will pay for it. (in blood, sweat, frustration, as usual. and more cold hard currency..) :P
