It’s pretty apparent why ASUS chose Hong Kong as the first market to get their hands on the Eee PC 900. On the release day, lines to get inside several retailers were very long, even as it rained heavily. You can see for yourself with this video and this video on YouTube. Pretty cool!

Have a guess? Those bloody chinese buying to sell overpriced on ebay oversea!
That’s so cool
I am already disappointed with Eee PC 900, it’s gonna employ the same celeron cpu at “overclock” of 900Mhz as compared to the 701 series at 600 Mhz. I guess now it left me no choice but to wait for the “Atom” 1.2 Ghz with Duo Core CPU 3rd G of Eee PC to be out in a few months time. Those Chinese are crazy to rush to buy the 900 instead of the Atom class to be out a few more months later. Man, Asus is really trying to stretch its line of Eee PC for as long a mile as possible with minimal incremental. Maybe one of the others that will be out soon for the other companies will come out with an outstanding mini-notebook to give the 900 and even the Atom series a good run for the money.
Damn! Look at those lines. If I wasn’t so totally satisfied with my Linux Eee PC I would be a little jealous. I am just happy to be part of the revolution.
bloody chinese???
i’m a Chinese, wt do u mean by this?
Yes,that is an offensive statement. Let’s keep ethnic/racial slurs out of this forum!!

Ebay item number: 120251374677 or 230244821019
Hey everybody, don’t mind me. I am an idiot.
But at least I’m not chinese!
Can we keep on topic and keep the racists and racial comments out of it?
I just picked up an EEE 900 in Mong Kok, HK last night. They all seem to have the 5800 battery now (with a sticker on the side proclaiming as much). They’re selling for 4200hkd if you want one now, 4000hkd if you can put down a deposit and wait till Thursday. They seem to have a new stock of the 701 too, as some were claiming to have an 8G model with all internal memory. The normal 4G is selling for 2800hkd. Contrary to what I read with some other comments, my 900 has both 4g and 16g SSD drives inside with a dummy SD card in the slot.
Sadly, all the videos I’ve looked at are showing demos of Windows XP rather than Linux.
See this review for some good screenshots of the installed Xandros Linux tabbed interface:

And here is a screenshot of the ‘Advanced Mode’ on a 701 screen:

Asustek plans to make Eee an independent brand, 10- and 11-inch Eee PCs on the way:

Hi Trey or anyone that can help,
In a couple of weeks I’ll be in HK for a weekend and I’ve never been there before. Can you tell me where to buy the new asus 900, if I have to bargain and if I’ll have problems paying with a credit card?
Thanks
@Jose
Hi,
I lived in HK and Macau for several years.
You can go to Fortress outlets around HK (www.fortress.com.hk), it’s one of the biggest retailers for consumer electronics and household appliances.
You can use your credit card with ease as it’s widely accepted.
I ordered my EeePc directly from HK via Expansys and it works perfectly.
Hope this can help.
Thanks Joao. I’ll be looking for their stores.
The Chinese are crazy??? What’s with the anti Chinese sentiments lately?
We are not your whipping child.
Eee PC is a Chinese product, made by your “crazy” Chinese people. May I suggest that you avoid making that “crazy” decision of buying one, and get yourself a HP mininote.
On second thoughts, isn’t the mininote made in “crazy” China too? “Crazy” Gwailo.
