by ant on April 29, 2008

yapyap on our forums has come across some photos on Flickr of a Black Eee PC 900. It looks really sleek, but also seems to be sporting the 4400mAh battery.

You can read the related post here.

I didn’t think I should upgrade to the eeepc 900, but now looking it “Black” I don’t know, keeps me thinking. Would a bigger screen be that much of a difference cause storage with an extra SDHC could be the same and also be less expensive. My Eeepc is 4 months old should I change it???…

Those Flickr photos really are a mystery.

Oh, and not to take the fame away from yapyap :P

But frost of these forums found it even before.

Because nothing sells a shiny, new gadget like a photo of it sitting beside a dead fish.

When can I buy an Eee PC 900 with a single 4G SSD and Linux pre-instaled and save 60 or 80 bucks to buy an internal HSDPA modem ?

anyone know if the black 900 is being released in us on may 12th or just the white??

James May 2, 2008 at 12:33 pm

Why haven’t we had more news about the 900 release in the UK? What about this black version of the laptop are they not as widely available? What stores will be selling the 900 in the US on May 12? You would think that a website dedicated to the Eee would have more news after the May 1st release in the UK….

RKM May 2, 2008 at 2:46 pm

@James

Why not research and post some news instead of complaining! This site is run for free as a service. The folks running it do it strictly in their spare time. I for one think it is a fabulous resource and really appreciate the efforts of those that give there time and effort to provide it for us.

They probably don’t hear “Thanks” enough, so “Thanks”

Eee PC 900 launched in UK, in five colours. Chance to win an Eee PC 701 running Windows in an online “spin the wheel” competition:

I agree with RKM – Thanks to guys who are running eeeuser.com!
Users like James should be banned from this site – for being unthankful a*holes :)

Welcome to Europe. :)

Ronald May 3, 2008 at 8:49 am

Comparing prices between US and Europe, you need to take VAT into account. UK VAT is 17.5%. Without VAT the price would be £280, that is US$556.

(VAT = Value added tax)

question…should I buy the 701 now or is the 900 worth waiting for?

Ronald May 4, 2008 at 11:18 am

Daniel,

That is a question no one but you yourself can answer. It depends on which specifications are important to you and how much you want to pay.

Daniel May 4, 2008 at 11:26 am

I like the idea of 7 inches because of price and availability, but in terms of an ultraportable I had planed for a ten inch screen. So, I guess at this point seeing each in person might be more helpful?

Does loading Window significantly slow the system down (compared to Linux)?

Spotted in Japan no less. The Eee PC is not as prominent here in Japan yet. This guy must have bought his from overseas.
