Order the Eee PC 900 20G and 12G at Amazon

by ant on May 11, 2008

[edit] The Eee PC 900 has been released! Many online retailers are carrying it, although selling out stock quickly.

While other parts of the world already can get their hands on Eee PC 900 devices, it has not yet been introduced to the US market. Now, it looks like it is getting closer to a release: Amazon.com has both Eee PC 900 versions listed for pre-order through themselves (and not a 3rd party retailer): the 20G model that comes with Linux and the 12G model that comes with Windows XP can both be found on the website. Of course, they feature the new 8.9″ screen with a resolution of 1024×600.

Anon,
I also ordered through Amazon from DataVision. I ordered on the 13th or 14th. My tracking number is listed on the Amazon web site. I you are familiar with their site, you can go to My Account and then to Track Packages. It will show you most recent order or orders in my case as I am an avid Amazon shopper and if your Eee has been shipped it will have a button to track your shipment.

Unfortunately I did not order my sooner. Thus, I have spent the weekend with my Eee in a freight terminal a few miles from here. I am expecting it to be delivered Monday.

@Jackie
I also ordered on the 14th. Do you know where this button is located for tracking your shipment? I can’t seem to find it. The order is also listed under “Open Orders”. This probably means that it hasn’t even shipped yet. If so, damn. I think living in Hawaii and Datavision being in NY has something to do with that.

Is the black color going to be available in the US with the 12G Windows version?

Amazon did well, I pre-ordered an XP 900 on the 10th, it was shipped on the 13th, and in my hands on the 16th.

It’s a nice little machine, runs faster than I had expected. I removed Works and StarSuite to install Office 2003 and saved a lot of space in the process.

Me again. ¬_¬
I ordered 20G on friday (16th), it was supposed to be shipped today, but nada.

I’m beginning to suspect DataVision has 0 stock, but are rubbing our dollars between their sweaty palms.

The product description for the 900 20G now reads “Usually ships within 1-2 months.”

What a crock.

I ordered my 20Gb eeepc 900 last Thursday from Amazon (DataVision) and have not recieved an email notifying me of shipping either. It was in stock when I ordered it. Now it states 1-2 months for the ship time. I emailed emailed DataVision this morning for a status update and still waiting on a reply. I am so close to canceling my order with them. I’ll give it another day or 2.

The two 20GB eeePC 900s that I pre-ordered from EXcaliberPC arrived today. They would have been here last Friday, but the FedEx delivery truck came by while we were out. They are both charging up now in preparation for first boot. I am extremely pleased with EXcaliberPC’s service. I didn’t notice any difference in price between the Linux and XP versions when I pre-ordered.

I attempted to order from EXcaliberPC last week. I was skittish about them, then my transaction. I thought for sure it was them but it was cancelled by my credit card company. The code on the back of my card was worn and I couldn’t read clearly. The folks at EXcaliberPC were VERY helpful and called me right away to try and process it. But there wasn’t anything they could do. Now I have to wait for a new Master Card! Sigh. I’ll probably just wait for the black version to come out.

Ah! A response about my email to Datavision:

Dear Valued DataVision Customer,

We wanted to update you on the status of your EEE PC 900 order.

As you can see by the overwhelming popularity of the item, they are sold out all over, and even have a 1-2 month backorder currently on Amazon.

Please know that any delay in your order was unintentional and we are doing our very best to pack each one up as fast as possible. With that said, your order is scheduled to leave our warehouse the first thing in the morning tomrorow.

We are packing them all as we speak. Attached are images for validation we do in fact have these.

Since every item needs to have a matching serial number attached to the receipt to validate the warranty, things have gotten a little more backed up than normal, given the volume.

Thank you once again for your patience,

DataVision

** Tracking numbers will be sent tomorrow to your email account, by us, amazon, as well as posted to your Amazon Account “Where’s My Stuff?”

Well, at least that proves that they actually have it (they attached two pictures in the email for proof) and are not just sitting around with our money!

Ive been wanting a notebook for quite some time but prices and size have kept me away from most available. I have not yet heard anything about the Atom version they will release but I am happy the better battery is being shipped with the 900 series. Does anyone know up to what size of SD card it will accept? I am hoping to load movies and music onto several of them and watch that instead of plugging in a external DVD drive. I’ll most likely end up getting the 20 gig model and re-boot it with XP.

Bad News For Australia. Asus announces the release of the Eee PC 900 out now for $599 for the 12GB XP version and $649 for the 20GB Linux version. OK, Asus, you have completely lost the plot as far as the price goes for the eee pc especially considering the RISE and RISE of the MIGHTY AUSTRALIA DOLLAR!!!!!!!! Shit, what will the price be for the soon to be launch 901? $1000????? Fark this I am out of eee pc interest from now altogether.

Any word on an XP black 900? I don’t need the 901

jeff May 29, 2008 at 5:25 pm

The BLACK EEE 900 is available for order here:
http://laptopsinc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=E900LX

The reseller is Portable One. I had no experience with them, but they have rave reviews that you can read for yourself here:
ttp://www.resellerratings.com/store/Portable_One_Inc

I called them this to confirm that it was a BLACK? 20GB? and a 900? Yes. Yes. Yes. He expected them to ship next week. :o )

Would have shared sooner but I had to order mine first.

jeff May 30, 2008 at 7:16 am

to followup, my order status for the black 900 states it will ship before 6 June. I suspect that is the official release date?
