No, you can PRE-ORDER them on eBay. Big difference.

There HAS to be an enterprising Taiwanese or Hong Kong retailer willing to ship to the US.

You can get the 901 on Ebay, no need to wait for it to be released by US online retailers.

No, I realize the 1000H comes with Windows XP. What I'm saying is I want the hardware of the 1000 but with the OS of the 1000H. I want the solid state drive with Xp. It seems as if Asus only sells them as is though, unless I'm mistaken.

I have a question if anyone might know:

Are the 1000 and 1000h identical aside from the SSD vs. Hard-drive and the OS? The thing is, I would like to be able to get the 40g SSD one, but then be able to put Windows on it. (Well, preferably I'd have Windows Xp come on that system to begin with, but I assume Asus isn't gonna do that for me.)

So, there shouldn't be any reason this wouldn't work, right?

No big deal, I don't care if these laptops have touchscreen or not.

I just wish SSD prices would hurry up and go down in price at a quicker pace, since 20 GB is still wimpy.

40 GB should be the bare minimum.

At least the current eeepc are heading in the right direction. Remember the 2 GB and 4 GB laptops, lol.

What is missing in all the new netbooks, including the new EeePCs as well?

Needs to be lower power use, and Sunlight readable screen (like OLPC) - someone commented on an UMPCportal & jkkmobile podcast, that at Computex most of these new net book devices were running the new Atom Processor were running hot to the touch? But complimented the EeePC as running cooler than much of the others. Still more needs to be done.

They need to license the tech from Pixel Qi - a look at Pixel Qi's web site really spells out exactly what we need in a mobile device. At Pixelqi.com we see where Pixel Qi is working on low power screens, they are also building integraded Touch Screen into Low Power Screens... We need touch screen and if we have touch screen, then we do not need the touch pad (so the keyboard can be larger or the unit smaller).

AND we will RUN Ubuntu Remix on this too!

There was one device at Computex that caught my eye, and that had a new AMD processor that could be run in a "non-turbo" mode to save power. When you needed higher graphics you could then run it in "turbo" mode (the AMD Processor had ATI-graphics built in).
