I recently purchased a Eee PC 1000 (no hard drive, but a 40G SSD). Have had trouble getting my PC 1000 to work at home with my Netgear (WGT624) Wireless Router. This router was set up by a friend ... so I have no clue what the settings are. Interestingly, when I took the PC 1000 on a trip ... it worked on a different (i.e other than Netgear) wireless router. Can someone please lead me through what I have to do to configure my Netgear router to allow wireless access to my PC 1000. Asus tech support said something about setting my Netgear Router to WEP or WPA encryption ("none higher').

Appreciate the member support help.

CPU always at 100% is NOT normal. Try booting into SAFE MODE, then do nothing but shut down and try normal boot--this can correct some problems. If it continues at 100%, try backing up your files that are important and use the ASUS Recovery CD that came with the Eee 1000H.

That will erase everything and reinstall to factory settings. Copy your files back from a thumb drive. Safe Mode... Google "Boot to Safe Mode" for the how to.

I just aquired the 1000HD (XP) from Best Buy. It has the 120 gig HD. 1 gig RAM.

I paid $375 plus tax (which brought it up to around $414.15)...

How successful have the upgrading of 1000H been

from the 80GB / 1Gb standard config... I READ you can swap out the 1Gb mem for a 2GB (max supported now?) and I see talk of some putting 100Gb and 160Gb drives in to replace the 80GB .. so why not the 250Gb or 320Gb drives available ? What is the "supportable" max currently

Waiting for mine to be delivered here in australia ... bought for less than US$420

No, sorry, the 1000H is only one 80GB HDD. Although i suppose there is probably a way to boot from a flash drive.

Can someone tell me if the 80G HDD version is also running a smaller SSD for the operating system? If so, this may be a good option for someone who wants Windows XP, and if you want to swap in one of the larger SSDs that are available you could have a pretty nice bang for the buck machine.

Keep an eye on Amazon. I bought one from there for $449 last week. They went from saying "ships within 1-2 months" to available, and back again.
