They are not linux based, thay are with bigger hdd. The first thing I did, was installed XP professional on my EEE 901.
Noone uses the stupid linux anyway, its just preinstalled so you can check that your computer is working, start firefox and understand that NOTHING is working as it is supposed to work. You can not find file manager, remote desktop, and averything else. The firefox, that was preinstalled, was the bigest crap I have ever seen, It was 10x slower that the IE on my windows. So I dont understand, what people have found in linux.

does anyone have any experience loading audio files from a digital voice recorder to an Eee PC?

I’m pretty sure it will work if one has the Windows version of Eee PC, but does anyone know if it works with the Linux programing?

My ideal system for doing interviews would be: a digital recorder –> linux EeePC –> USB flash drive. Is this possible/good/stupid?

The Eee is coming into popuklar knowledge even more than before. Right now, the Royal Bank of Canada has put up a new promo; where before they used to advertise free iPods for switching to them, the new promotion they’re advertising on TV is one of the Eee 701s for switching to them. Hope Eeeuser can bring us the details about this soon.

Be nice if they actually delivered them though!

I pre-ordered mine. Expected delivery was 12 August. Now they are estimating 19 August.

I may look into the terms and conditions of the pre-order. I am happy to pay the ‘early adopter’ prices, but only if I get the thing whilst it is still somewhat cutting edge.

I am looking for a pink eee for my wife and the only reason it isn’t listed as one of the most popular items is because you can’t find enough of them. There are only a few 2G around and it is only possible to get a 4G pink eee from the auction sites.

They should find a way of ranking interest when the searched items are not available.
