I couldn't be happier with the battery in my new 1000 HE..

Marketing isn't what sold this netbook, its features and low price is what made millions buy it.

I haven't tested the exact amount my battery can run the 1000HE however I surely don't have to charge this more than once in 24 hours.

Hii !...
I read this press release on another site. I believe they defined “one whole day” as eight hours of battery life.
I agree with drfrog. Marketing speak is disgusting.
A day is 24 hours.

I've just bought a 1000H which claims to have 7hrs battery life but its never given me more than 3 1/2. Even when fully charged (100%) it indicates just over 3 hrs remaining. Any suggestions for improving this???

Totally possible. Throttle controls and better acpi controls will make it possible. There is also the newer liion cells that use a different cathode anode tech using treed silicon or graphite. It is going to be an interesting year. I do love that new tablet that was at ces. Going to get one for sure.

I bought a 1000H in December with a six cell battery and it gives me at least 6hrs battery life. This kept me working for a whole day at the office. I don´t use it every hour I am in the office - I have linch, talk to other people, drink coffee, go to meetings, etc. I figure there is a bit more left for evening fun computing, but after looking at a 10¨ screen for six hours I am kind of tired too, and maybe don´t want to look at it much more than that. For me this is a whole day of battery life - and I live in a developing country with currently 16 hrs of load shedding a day.

24 hours is not most people's idea of a day of computer use, I don't think it's marketing hype to call a normal working day "a day of use". As long as they really do mean a day of actual use, as opposed to a day of occasional use (that means switched on all day & use of wireless networking etc, rather than 20 minutes use every now and again throughout the day). Very few people stay up a full 24 hours using their laptop constantly! OK, I think I probably have spent almost 24 hours on the computer at some point in my life (probably when I was unemployed, had no kids, and had first got broadband!!), but it's not normal usage!!
