I dont like the idea about asus developing different asus eee. I have an Asus Eee 901. It is ok and i like it a lot but i think that asus should concentrate more in improving the products it has already launched to the market. The asus I have need to be improved and somehow it looks like an unfinished product. the keyboard plastic is cheap while some details need more attention.

Despite the fact that I have read so many people expressing this opinion, I still don't understand why people have a problem with Asus releasing so many different models! The only argument I've heard against it is that it confusing for new buyers, but that doesn't bear up to scrutiny. Anyone who will be spending that sort of money, can very quickly see which options are available, and what best matches their requirements. I don't think it's particularly difficult to go to a website and having decided your budget, what CPU, what storage type, etc. Come up with the model name of the item that you need. Exactly the sort of decision you have to make when purchasing any item over a certain amount - How many different Home DVD players do Sony make? How many of them look identical, but have slightly different specs? Do people still buy them? Yes - and in a lot of cases, it's a simple as buying the nest and/or most expensive within their budget.
I originally bought a 701, decided I wasn't happy with the screen, upgraded to a 900, decided I wasn't happy with the battery life, and got a 901. Couldn't be happier - I have an 80GB hdd, the battery life is great, It looks great - for me, this one is a keeper.

well this is my opinion but i think ASUS think like "more models, more choises, fit more ppl" just read you people, some ppl says "good, this fits my needs" everyone if getting what they need, so i think the variety of models is good also they will gain more popularity since none of my friends (no pc related) knows about ASUS and well, even a few that knows a little abpout pc knows about ASUS.

Lee: I would have completely agreed with you, weeks ago.

Since then, I bought my Acer Aspire One in Best Buy for $349. It was sitting next to an Eee PC 900-- selling for $449. Sure, the 900 had SSD, but it also had the Celeron and a dated look (in my opinion) compared to the Aspire. SSD isn't something important to me at all.

Side by side, the Aspire One blew away the 900- people in the store were looking at the Aspire and not the 900.

ASUS innovated when it came to the netbook idea and subsequent hardware. But they're not innovating on price-- ironically the "feature" that they trumpeted more than size in the beginning when the Eee PC was the "$200 notebook" instead of a netbook. I think this is the most important aspect of netbooks for the vast majority of us.

I haven't bought a 901 or an 1000 yet- and I don't plan to because they are out of my price range. The Aspire One (and probably the Dell) fit right in it.

You're right though, none of the new devices will win big like the original Eee PC 7"-- even the new Eee's, because there are now so many models out there from so many manufacturers. I think it's a good thing, and hope it pushes ASUS and others to innovate size, portability, and PRICE.

The market in general is saturated. The Eee was the innovator. Everybody else are just Johnny-come-lately's. I think that many of the newer machines are missing the point. Its about size, portability and inovation. The use of solid state memory was a big plus and a great selling point.

Now there are so many choices from so many companies. None of them will win big like the Eee did. You don't suceed by cpying you suceed by inovating. Any one else who brings an ultraportable to market should come up with something fresh rather than copying.

I think it's awesome that there are plenty of models and hope there are many more to come. This gives more choices for the consumer for to meet their needs and budget. (The way it should be.) Like BriAnn mentioned above: This is the one I've been waiting for!!! Now my 900 20GB will go to a family member and I'll use the 900HD.

Thank You ASUS!!!!!!
