1008HA update and 1000HE still best selling

by martin on May 2, 2009

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s announcement, the Asus Eee PC 1008HA Seashell is now being made available for pre-order in the U.K. from several e-tailers. Laptopsdirect and Amazon do not explicity reveal any specific availability date but there is an approximate E.T.A. of mid May 2009.

Meanwhile, the Asus Eee PC 1000HE is proving to be one of Asus’ most popular releases yet, appearing twice in the top ten of the most popular list on Amazon’s “Bestsellers in Computers and PC Hardware” section under netbooks. This indicates that when it comes to being affordable, featuring long battery life and offering good performance, the Asus Eee PC 1000HE is still very much a sure win for your money.

How many of the 1000HE or best buy’s 1000heb? N270 (1.60Mhz), no bluetooth? I still get 7 hours battery; so I decided to keep it.

It’s because of netbooks like these that keep me in this hobby.

The lack of an Ethernet port on the 1000HE is sort of a deal-breaker for me. I like having both wireless and Ethernet port connections. The Ethernet port would be used for security-required situations such as banking.

What do you think?

The 1000HE has an ethernet port. I’m looking at it right now :)

The 1000he really has me impressed. I like their customer service too. They are willing to fix/replace my 1000he that had one stuck pixel! (I tried fixing the stuck pixel gently, didn’t work)

The power brick broke after only one use though. Just would not light up, and stopped charging, but they are covering that too.

ASUS has me impressed so far, and I’m a mac user at that.
