A recent article has made a comparison between the new Asus Eee PC 1008HA and the 1000HE. The 1000HE is known for it’s outstanding battery performance, while the 1008HA is the new breed of Seashell netbooks from Asus, aiming to be the lightest and thinnest of their ten inch netbook range.
The 1000HE is still, of course, the best selling netbook on Amazon, but the new Eee PC 1008HA looks like it could be a worthy contender for its predecessor. Both netbooks feature the Intel Atom N280 processor running at 1.66Ghz, whereas the 1008HA battery gives out about 6 hours and the 1000HE gives about 9.5 hours. The 1008HA will be trying hard to become your new favourite netbook and travelling companion.

EeePC 1000HE realy nice netbook. I am getting morethan 9 hours battery backup.
I’d be interested in the 1008HA if it wasn’t for the glossy screen. I prefer it’s keyboard (full-sized right shift key), but I cannot stand glossy screens. Give me matte finish every time.
I hate glossy screens. It acts as a mirror whenever I’m using the computer. And I see a reflection of everyone in back of me on the screen which tends to make some people feel uneasy, as if they’re being watched.
Anybody can tell me the price of a 1000HE eeepc.I want to take one 1000HE because of its battery backup and the N280 processor also.
The 1008 would be nice with a matte screen and a longer battery life. These are its 2 biggest shortcomings. Regardless, it is still a decent computer system.
They’re both almost the same except that the 1008HA doesn’t have the extra USB port, longer battery life, and a matte screen…
