Asus to launch the T91 with Windows 7

by martin on May 12, 2009

More news comes along with the pending release in the U.K. of the Asus Eee PC T91, the tablet style netbook which includes a touch screen with swivel capability; Asus will be offering Windows 7 as a possible upgrade when purchasing.

The Asus Eee PC T91 will initially ship with Windows XP, but expects to soon offer Windows 7 as an upgrade, and further down the track, have the T91 ship with Windows 7 by default. Asus is also in negotiation to produce a version of the T91 to include 3G mobile connectivity features, which would be “free”, but only available on a service contract.

Neat!

I’ll still be sticking Ubuntu NBR on it as soon as I get it though!

But … in the video review a couple of blog posts back … they said that the T91 was being shipped before Windows 7. Does this mean the release date will change to after 7′s release ?

GtiSingh, Asus is talking with Microsoft about whether or not people who buy a T91 with XP should receive an upgrade to Win 7. Free or not, I don’t know. The T91 is still shipping soon, with XP, then eventually Win 7.

@Jayayess1190 I like that thought! I could stick NBR on my T91 and then stick the free upgrade to windows 7 on my desktop to replace my Vista partition (I only use it once in a while I swear!)

Unless of course the free “upgrade” is to the netbook version of 7 which only allows you to run 3 programs at once :-(

Still upgrading from that to premium might be cheaper than just buying premium!
