The Asus Eee PC 1002HAE PC, which we covered earlier, was released in Japan on May 16th, and is a minor update and brother to the Asus Eee PC 1002HA. As mentioned in our earlier article, the 1002HAE is a near clone of the 1002HA, except it offers more colour options (instead of just grey), a chiclet-style keyboard and the Intel Atom N280 processor running at 1.66Ghz instead of the Intel Atom N270 CPU.
A recent review indicates several other changes, including screws with plugs, preventing or at least making it difficult to access the bays underneath, just in case you wanted to upgrade the memory, storage or any other feature. The battery also, is actually placed at the front of the netbook, instead of the back, which is standard for most other netbooks. This brings with the disadvantage that if anyone would want to put an extended battery in it, it would increase the height of the keyboard to a possibly uncomfortable level for touch typists.
Battery life is found to be about three to four hours between charges, from basic testing. The Asus Eee PC 1002HAE is still only available in Japan, but we are waiting on word for a U.S. release.
