Latest Asus Eee PCs to Hit Australian Stores

by martin on May 29, 2009

Aussies will be pleased as word gets around that Asus will release more of it’s latest offerings in Australia over the next month or two, including it’s latest favourite three. The new releases in question (amongst others), includes the Eee PC T91 touchscreen PC with tablet mode, the Eee PC Seashell 1008HA and it’s brother the Eee PC 1005HA, which should be available for purchase at AU$999, AU$899 AU$599-AU$799 (depending on which configuration you choose) respectively.

Those prices might look high, but due to various unfortunate conditions, computers cost more in general in Australia to buy, which has been a constant thorn in the side of Australian purchasers for ages. The Eee PC 701 used to fetch AU$450-500, but can now be had for about AU$200-$300, depending on the source. However, once more and more of the above become available in the market, the prices should come down to a more reasonable level.

They should be arriving in July.

I’ve recently been interested in the eee PC 701 because of its AUD price of $279, as im looking for a cheap notebook this seems to be the computer for me… Only thing is I rly wanted the memory to be about 20 gigs, is there a way of upgrading its memory ?

I’ll probably be getting this tomorrow so quick reply would be FREAKING AWSOME ;D!

@Nik
In the Eee PC 4G the 4GB flash storage is soldered to the mainboard, but you can easily extend the storage with a 16GB SD Card, which are already relatively cheap.

I just won a 701 on eBay for $120 shipped – I’m gassed about getting my first commercial Linux computer! I’m looking forward to tweaking it to no end :)
