Not long after the Asus Eee PC T91, the touch screen netbook with tablet mode, was released amid confusion regarding the features, we now have someone who wonders whether you can prematurely add a few features missing from it that we are hoping to expect with the T91A and the T91Go.
A dedicated Eee User has now spent their own cash on the T91 to see how via it is to modify. The answer is, it can be modified a little, but not a lot. It seems that there is some room to put a 3G module to support extra wireless internet support, not a lot of space if you wanted to put in a GPS module, and upgrading the SSD drive might prove to be a pain.
The Eee PC T91 takes the 50mm PCIe SATA SSD, while most companies currently have 70mm equivalents on offer. It is possible to connect the larger SSD drives to the netbook, but you wont be able to close the case, not without some serious modifications to the case itself, which would probably involve taking out a chunk of the plastic casing to suit the drive.
Never the less, this is a brilliant attempt at seeing what can be done with the latest from Asus and might prove to give some hints as to how Asus plan on adding the official extensions later on with the T91A and the T91Go.
