An Upcoming Multi-Touch Eee PC

by martin on September 21, 2009

Asus, in their sometimes unusual way of making a future product known, have expressed hints of an upcoming netbook in their Asus Eee PC line called the Asus Eee PC T91MT which will be a multi-touch netbook, not unlike the predecessor the Asus Eee PC T91.

Asus already have a support page available for the Asus Eee PC T91MT, and we are expecting it to arrive sometime in October or November, obviously just in time to be pre-loaded with Windows 7. It will more than likely feature Windows 7 Home Premium, as there are missing features from Windows 7 Starter Edition which this new netbook will require, such as the multitouch feature which is fortunately featured in the Windows 7 Home Premium.

Though the only download at the moment for the Eee PC T91MT is a BIOS file, I’m sure many Eee Users will be anxiously awaiting a user manual to find out more about it.

We will keep you posted on any further developments on their touch screen line of the Asus Eee PCs.

Awesome! I’m really looking forward to this, and there’s a very good chance I’ll buy it if it’s not too overly expensive.

I’ve been holding back off the T91 because I feel a netbook/tablet like this really needs multitouch to be usable in tablet mode.

I hope it’ll be possible to surf the net by single-tapping links and using two fingers to scroll pages or something (i.e. not by using the scrollbars, ugh).

Why is “Asus” always used as a plural business name, as in the following quote from the article:
“Asus already have a support page available…”

Isn’t “Asus” a singular business entity? If so, shouldn’t it read “Asus already HAS a support page available…”

I’m assuming there is a reason for this, because I see it everywhere on this site. I just don’t know what that reason is.

Probably because it ends with an “s”, people read it like “asu’s”.

JZ, replace ‘Asus’ with ‘they’ and you will see why it works.

Thanks shurcooL. That’s what I figured the authors here are trying to convey. For me, it’s like fingernails on a chalkboard to read it that way though. Maybe a touch of grammatical OCD? Who knows…
